How herbal medicine and simple lifestyle tweaks can support sleep, mood and a calmer nervous system.
What is happiness? For some it's time with loved ones, meaningful work, community or spiritual growth. But even these can feel out of reach if our foundation isn't solid. To enjoy good energy and a balanced mood, we need to feel well in our bodies -- with restful sleep, good cognitive function and anxiety kept at bay.
Sleep: the foundation of wellness
Restorative sleep is essential for physical and emotional health. A few simple tweaks help: get natural daylight early in the day, avoid caffeine after 1pm, cut down on sugar in the evening, avoid eating too late, and give yourself at least two hours to unwind before bed.
Herbal support for modern stress
Herbal medicine uses the natural healing power of whole plants. A few favourites: passionflower for daytime anxiety and restful sleep; lime flowers to calm the nervous system; lavender for relaxation; and ashwagandha, an adaptogen that supports energy, fertility, the menopause years and immune function.
